Pony Holder Idea

Yes it's true I found these at Target in the toddler section. I think they are really cute and since my daughter's hair is not quite long enough for a full on pony tail, I guess I better keep them for me. I thought they would a great little project for me to figure out how to make these too. Same concept as the headband but on a pony holder. The shape of the cutouts don't really look like hearts though... I am thinking they are more like flower pedals. I better get to work on this!

As a young mother it can be really complicated to get a decent meal on the table every night, but I found some inspiration to get more organized. This 30 Meals idea is not about making 30 meals all at one time, it's about organizing and being prepared. I got this great meal planning idea here at Nannygoat. I have started making my list and I can tell this little system is going to work for me. We have even been trying some new recipes along the way. I made this Three Cheese Chicken Penne Pasta Bake and it was really quite delicious. We definitely added it to our 30 meals.

Painting Furniture Tutorial

Lately I have been really interested in buying a used piece of furniture and refinishing it. I am not quite sure how to do it all so I have been on the look out for tutorials to help me in this process. I found one here at Just a Girl that gives some great basic tips. Now I just need to find that perfect piece of furniture that is dying to be revived! I really want to do a fun color like yellow, green or turquoise.

Corsage Headband Tutorial

Since I love all of the corsage shirts out there I decided to make a headband using the same concept from this tutorial at Enchantresses 3. But instead of permanently sewing it directly on the headband I came up with a new idea. I made the embellishment with elastic on the bottom so it can slide off and on my favorite headband. Now I can make different flowers and such and switch them out on one headband that I love. Here is how I did it:

Supplies:
- fabric scrap
- small piece of felt
- elastic
- basic sewing supplies
- favorite headband

1. Take your piece of fabric (anything will do, I used a t-shirt that I never wear) and trace and cut out about 10 hearts. I just free handed a heart shape but you could print one off the computer as your pattern if you like. My hearts were about 2 inches tall. The amount of hearts depends on how full or long/wide you would like it (see pic. #1).

2. Cut out an oval shape out of your felt (or round if you want it more ball shaped).

3. Cut two pieces of elastic about the width of your felt piece and pin them in place the width of your favorite headband (see pic. #2). Make sure it is snug but able to slide off and on with ease.

4. Stitch the elastic in place. I used my machine to do this, but you could definitely hand sew it as well.

5. Now this is the fun part. Take a heart and fold it (see pic. #3). Just a loose funky fold and hand stitch it in place.

6. Continue folding hearts, arranging and sewing them in place until you are satisfied with the shape and fullness (pic. #4 & 5).

7. Slide it on your headband and you are finished! Get busy, the possibilities are endless! I am definitely going to try the rolled flowers on the elastic felt too. Now I don't have to buy a million headbands!

How To Add A Signature To Your Blog Posts

Many people have asked me how I have added a signature to the bottom of my blog posts, and let me tell you my blogging friends, I am happy to share that wonderful piece of info with you. It is quite a simple process, but it does require some sort of photo editing program. Photoshop or Photoshop Elements are great options, but whatever you have will work.

So, here's the scoop:

1. First you need to design your signature. This is how I do it in Photoshop:

-Open up a new document (file>new) with these dimensions:

Width: 200 pixels

Height: 100 pixels

Resolution: 100

Color Mode: RGB

Background: Transparent

- Using the text tool, type in your name with your favorite font to be your unique signature.

- If you want a little something extra, like something from a digital scrapbook kit, you can place it on your document beside your text. To do that: file>place> then find your document and click place.

-Or you can add a shape, like a heart or something:

-I prefer simplicity, but hey, it's your signature so have at it... do whatever makes you happy!

2. Now once you are satisfied with your signature, it needs to be saved. You can save it as a PNG image in order to keep your transparent background. I prefer this so that no matter what your background is, you have a signature without a big white box around it!

3. Now that you have properly saved your image, you need to upload it onto a website image hosting page. A few of these include Photobucket or Picasa Web. Once you have done this, you will need to get the URL for this image.

4. To put on your signature on your blog:

- Open your blog and go to the Layout page

- Click on the Settings tab then click Formatting

- At the bottom of the page you will see a content box called Post Template.

- You will need to copy and paste the code below into that box (make sure to copy the entire code):

-Almost done... now copy your image URL and paste it to replace where is reads SIGNATURE URL in the code. Note: do not delete the quotation marks ""!

5. Now you can enjoy your fabulous new signature on your new posts!

-a little cabinet or drawer set

-Mod Podge

-craft paint

-coordinating scrapbook paper

-water based clear varnish (CeramCoat)

-buttons for drawer pulls

-fabric to cover drawer pulls

Chalkboard Plates

This is a really simple and easy idea. Here are the supplies that you will need:

-plate

-chalkboard spray paint

-tape and paper to mask off the area

Just spray the center of the plate with a few coates and blam... there you have it.

Here is a colored plate which I think is adorable as well.
